US TB Hill Day 2026

US TB Hill Day brings together survivors, experts, and activists to advocate for increased US federal funding for tuberculosis both globally and domestically. Hill Day 2026 will be March 2-3 in Washington, DC with training nearby. Participants will be responsible for travel and lodging.

What is Hill Day?

A hill day is an event where advocates for a specific issue or organization go to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC to meet with the offices of Congressional Representatives and Senators.

US TB Hill Day brings together survivors, experts, and advocates to push for increased US federal funding for tuberculosis programs, both globally and domestically. We are joining partners at the TB Roundtable, We Are TB, and Partners in Health for the hill day they have been doing for several years. The US government's cuts to USAID and other global development programs have been devastating to TB programs around the world, and domestically TB funding at the CDC has declined by about 60% since 1994 when adjusted for inflation.

Specifics on what we'll be asking Congress for will be available much closer to TB Hill Day.

On March 2, we will attend an in-person training with our organizations to prepare for meetings, and then on March 3 groups of advocates will meet with Senate and Congressional offices to ask for increases in TB funding domestically and globally.

Funding Defended

Budget proposals released after Hill Day 2025 made minimal cuts to tuberculosis-related funding, even though the White House had attempted to cut TB funding by half and other global health and development programs were cut by as much as 90%. Our Hill Day was part of the TB advocacy movement that kept crucial dollars flowing.

Increased Awareness

While advocating for funding, we were also able to educate and inform over 200 Senators, Congresspeople, and staffers about the reality of TB today - including many who told advocates they were unaware of the magnitude of the problem. Our presence on the Hill was noticed by government officials and other advocates alike. We aim to be the visible constituency that the TB movement needs.

Community Strengthened

Hill Day brings together TB advocates, experts, and survivors from around the US. For many of these groups, including TBFighters, Hill Day is advocates' only chance to meet in person. In 2025, over 200 survivors, advocates, and experts convened in DC, providing valuable opportunities for connection and community building.
